The balance between the economy, society, and the environment.

Circular Economy

Reduce, Recycle, Reuse.

These principles are intrinsically linked to the idea of a sustainable cycle of production and consumption. By reducing waste, recycling materials, reusing resources, and adopting circular practices, we promote a holistic approach to managing our natural resources.

The Circular Economy proposes a model where waste is viewed as a resource, encouraging reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling. This concept challenges us to rethink how we produce, consume, and dispose, aiming for a more efficient, sustainable, and resilient system.

A production process that generates “zero” waste.

At UNICOR, we employ a circular economy model that reuses all cork by-products from our production lines. Waste from cylinders and blocks, as well as stoppers that do not meet standards, are reintroduced into our industrial grinding line. The cork dust from the grinding lines is also used to power the generator, providing energy for the entire production process alongside our solar panels.

More than 25%
clean energy.

At UNICOR, we continuously invest in a more sustainable industrial production model.

The implementation of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of our facilities represented a crucial step towards energy efficiency.

These panels were deliberately installed in an interspersed manner, allowing natural light to enter the factory.

By producing more than 25% of the energy we need in a clean manner, we actively contribute to a greener, more sustainable, and more prosperous world.

Promoting the circular economy is crucial to meeting society’s needs within the planet’s environmental limits.
